fist‧i‧cuffs, n. /ˈfɪs.tɪ.kʌfs/

Composed of “fist” (a clenched hand) and “cuff” (the end of a shirtsleeve). Before the Uncouth Era – and its associated habit of wearing t-shirts in public – men would have to roll up their shirtsleeves in order to fistfight effectively.
